I am so ready to do something!

I don't know if this is the right place for this or not...

I've been having my period this week and I am sooo ready to done with it and do something about it. This has been the worst one yet, I've been in so much pain I've been taking my vicodin every day! And I'm bleeding so much it makes me so sleepy and weak! I had to come home sick from work today and I literally slept all day!

I have been scheduled for Oct 7th for my hysterectomy and I am really starting to look forward to it. These horrendeous periods have got to go! Due to work schedules, I am waiting until then. I work at a college and september would be the absolutely wost time for me to be gone, plus I want to wait until my dd is back in school as well.

Thanks for listening to me whine!

((dembrooks))

Have you asked your doctor if there are some options you could try until your surgery? Maybe high dose birth control pills, progesterone, etc.?

Sending extra s and best wishes your way! Keep in there!

Re: I am so ready to do something!

I am seeing her next week (with DH) to discuss the surgery in more detail so I will ask her about taking something then. Thanks for the suggestion!

Re: I am so ready to do something!

Hi dembrooks

I also work in higher education and waited until the end of the semester to have my surgery.

I do understand the difficulties of missing September in this line of work. However, if you are in so much pain and are having to leave work some days, it might be worth seriously considering having your surgery soon. On the days when I was in severe pain, not only did I have no quality of life, I was not of much use to anyone. I couldn't even walk down the hall at school without holding onto a wall for support, and my ability to concentrate and engage in a professional conversation was seriously compromised.

No one should be so indispensable that an office or program cannot manage to function for a month or two if someone has a health problem. Is there anything you can do to prepare others to do your work, just in case your situation becomes unbearable?

I hope you're able to have some relief soon. I also waited three months for my surgery, and while I made it, it was very difficult at times. It would be great if there's some medication that will help you get through it.
