Almost 3 Weeks Post Op and Started Bleeding

Hi, I have a question and hope someone can give me some advice. Tuesday will be 3 weeks since I had a vaginal hysterectomy (kept 0varies). I did not bleed after surgery...only minimal spotting for two days. Tonight, after coming home from my daughters basketball game, I found I had started bleeding. It is not a whole lot but I am worried. Is this normal and has anyone else experienced this? Is was enough that after I emptied my bladder the water was pink from the blood and the toilet paper was bloody. Am I worrying too much? Any advice would be great.

Thank you all,
Kris (Sydney3)

Almost 3 Weeks Post Op and Started Bleeding

Hi,

Some spotting is normal after a few weeks as the internal sutures start to dissolve. It should diminish in a few days or weeks.

However, if the bleeding becomes bright red or heavy like a period, you should give your doctor a call, just to be on the safe side.

Also, if you went to a basketball game, you may be overdoing it. Two and a half weeks is still pretty early in the recovery process and you still have a lot of healing left to do. Take it easy for awhile and rest with your feet up. Sometimes doing too much too soon can cause spotting too.

s,

Lisa

Almost 3 Weeks Post Op and Started Bleeding

I'll be 3 weeks on Wed. (TVH) & have been doing great - walking, resuming all activities except heavy lifting and sex. However, today I rode my bike (dumb!) for a short distance slowly and had some vaginal pain when I returned. A couple of hours later I passed a huge clot with bright red bleeding that only lasted an hour or so. The doc told me to come in tomorrow morning - hope I didn't tear something but I'm pretty freaked out! This is the only incident I have had since surgery. I guess when they say not to overdo it they mean it - even if you feel perfectly normal!
