2 to 3 weeks and then you're able to make a oatmeal. how am i going to take care of my kid? I didn't think it would be this difficult to take care of my kid. now I'm stressed out. I hope all goes well for me I hope I don't hurt myself....

As far as food, I got a bunch of stuff hubby and teen son could make, pb and j, frozen pizzas, soups, cereal, etc. and he would ask on the way home what he could pick up.
If it was me, with a toddler, I would either ask hubby to take off a couple weeks if he could, or find someone like a neighbor or family member to come in during the day to help with the toddler. Sorry, but there is no way I can see taking care of a toddler after a few days. If I couldn't find anyone I would have my hubby utilize the family leave act. Sorry to be so blunt. But I was just through this and from reading a ton of posts here, most women need help for a couple weeks, even without a toddler to care for.

Re: Really scared and need advice

Hi perfectstaci. I am 32. Figured with all the issues I've had pretty much my whole life id eventually need this surgery However 32 still seeems so young to me so I can imagine the stress at 29 you must have. Talk to other women if you know of any that have had this surgery but also reading the stories help me especially to know im not alone. Mine will be abdominal though but any tips can help us both I would imagine!

Re: Really scared and need advice

If you can't find anyone to care for your child, I have a few suggestions. As for food, when you cook dinner make extra and freeze it. That way you or your husband can easily microwave a meal. Buy easy things you can make for your child's lunch and breakfast. Can he/she lay in bed with you and watch dvds? Maybe read books? Does your child still take naps? If so you can sleep when they do. Hope that helps a little.

I was able to tolerate being up much longer at around 5 days post op. Unless you have complications, you should be able to make oatmeal after several days (especially if you use the instant oatmeal). You should be able to fix sandwiches. Buy a few frozen "Kid's Meals". Just put them in the microwave, and kids love them. Don't stress. Your doctor will tell you exactly what you will/will not be able to do.

Re: Really scared and need advice (child mentioned)

well I'm figuring out bit by bit what I'm going to do with my son. headstart is working with me about having an emergency and needing help with him so they're going to watch him if I get a doctor to sign off this piece of paper.

Re: Really scared and need advice (child mentioned)

Waiting is the hardest part! I am 6 days post op after TAH and am doing well! I am 34 and I think being young makes your recovery easier! Good luck and I hope the waiting speeds by!
