Scared out of my wits!!!
I am going on for surgery next Tuesday March 22nd at 11:15 am. I have been researching like a mad woman. My Doctor is fantastic and I should have no worries But I am just sick to my stomach about the whole thing. Early Hysterectomies run on my mothers side of the family (5 sisters had the surgery before age 40!!). Everyone says things will go fine and I have a huge family support group but my last surgery for gallbladder removal was a nightmare!! I don't want to go through that again!!
I am looking for ANY advice/support/jokes. I have my bags all packed, my groceries stocked and bills paid for the month. I also suffer from a bit of OCD. I am having a total hysterectomy, they are leaving my ovaries and I get the lovely parting gift of the 6 to 8 inch vertical zipper due to my uterus being so large and full of fun packed fruits, tumors the sizes of oranges and plums.

Scared out of my wits!!!
Hi clk28
Welcome !! Glad you're here doing your research. There's tons of great info here. Be sure to click on "Checkpoints" in the purple bar above to get lots of great hints.
It's totally understandable to be frightened...we all were. Hopefully though, this will be a very uneventful surgery for you and everything will go well.
It's super, too, that you have great confidence in your dr. I did too and he did a great job. Have some fun these last few days before you go in. Have lunch with some friends, get a manicure, go to a movie. Have some quality "me" time. You deserve it.
Sending you big ss and lots of
Blessings,
Btw....if you would, please edit your profile so we can send you well wishes before you head to the hospital. Thanks!!

Scared out of my wits!!!
Hello,
Just wanted to let you know you're not alone in dreading this surgery. I want to every time I think about next Wed. So, I totally understand how you're feeling. Just think this time next week, you'll be on your road to recovery and I will just be starting my journey. I will be glad to have this behind me.
Just remember to breathe, think positive, and have faith.

Scared out of my wits!!!
I've been reminding myself of things I'm going to do when I get out of the hospital. We've got ticket to see a couple plays in May, probablay take a vacation in June. Got some house stuff we want to do too.
Plus I've been playing Sims (PC role playing game). It's very absorbing.
Good luck to us all next week!

Scared out of my wits!!!
You are not abnormal being scared, but you'll do just great. We Minnesota girls are tough! It seems to me that the more you research, the more afraid you get. I did a lot of that prior to my surgery and as a result, was expecting all kinds of complications, but I'm doing just wonderfully. Feel free to PM me if you like.
Sounds like you have a good handle on preparation!

Scared out of my wits!!!
January 18th I found out about needing the surgery, Feb 18th had it, now almost Mar 18th and I'm doing great. It was such a good thing and I feel so much better. I had a verticle incision, I also had 3 prior surgeries with horizontal incisions and, if it's any consolation to you, from my experiance the verticle was a lot easier, not as much pain for all I had the staples in for 10 days.

Scared out of my wits
Thank you for all the kind words of encouragement. I went for my pre-op physical yesterday. Everything went well, EKG, blood and urine test but what I thought was funny is they had me do a full chest xray. I am not a smoker and I do not have a cold.... I think my DR is just really thorough. 5 days and counting. Oh, I have been so worried about this whole thing I lost 3 pounds since my last visit last week.u

Scared out of my wits!!!
Good morning clk28,
Funny thing, you lost 3 pounds, well, I think I found them.
You must be the type to not eat when you're nervous, I'm the opposite. All I want to do is eat, especially junk food. I never buy junk food. Last week when I went grocery shopping my almost 16 yr. old DD, looked in my buggy and said mom what is wrong with you. I had 2 boxes of Little Debbies, 2 packs of candy bars, a box of cookies and icecream. And I did not buy it for my kid. I should be ashamed. . Oh well, this week, I really tried to watch what I bought and not over do it.
About the chest x-ray. My dr. order one too. He said it was because I was 35. I don't smoke either and at the time didn't have a cold. Have one now and taking antibiotics. Hope it goes away by next Wed.
