How do you go about getting all your questions answered?

I went for a 2nd opinion yesterday and brought a list of questions with me but I did not have time to pull them out and ask.

Am I supposed to wait for my pre op to do that?

How do you go about it, just pull the paper out or what?

How do you go about getting all your questions answered?

while you were sitting with the dr talking about options, you should have asked all the questions you wanted answered then. if you wait for the pre-op, you might not have time to persue another opinion or procedure without cancelling. you might want to make another appt with him just to go over your questions. did you like the second opinion dr well enough to let him do your surgery? did he agree with your original dr?

How do you go about getting all your questions answered?

My questions are not related to other options, they are more of a just for my info type thing.

I am having this dr do the surgery as I feel she is more qualified. She has been doing them for 30 years and her other specailty is bladder repair.

She completely agree with my ob except said she would not bother with ablation as an option. So my options were left to IUD (which I tried) and the hyst.

She is also sending me for an MRI on tuesday. She did an exam and I thought she was very good.

I was already in there for awhile since it was my first visit we were discussing why I was there what she saw in my ob's notes and her thoughts on it all. She is very strict with sticking to her schedule and my time was pretty much up. I am hoping I can get everything answered at the pre op and that is where she told me she would than go into great detail about the procedure that was decide and all the stuff to go along with it.

How do you go about getting all your questions answered?

Hi havehope,

I took a three page question list to my pre-op. What the surgical assistant/nurse couldn't or didn't answer I asked my doctor. It went well and they expect you to have questions. Also, my doctor's office is more than happy for me to call if anything else comes up that I need to ask.

If it concerns you that there won't be time, call the office and ask what they would prefer or suggest on how to get all your questions to them and answered.

Take good care and good luck!!! Blessings,

Being your doctor is really strict about your schedule, and you still have questions, I would make an appointment just to ask questions, or let them know for your next scheduled appointment that you would like more time, as you have a lot of questions. As long as it's known in advance so the schedule can be tweaked, it should be no problem.

it sounds like you really like your dr...that makes a huge difference. but, please dont leave her office until your questions are answered. its your right to have them answered no matter what her strict time schedule is. she will just have to make the next appt after you, wait. also, you might want to find out what kind of surgery you are having, what is being removed etc, before your pre-op..so you can do some research about it and make sure youre okay with it.
good luck with everything.. i wish you a very speedy recovery.

Oh I had already decided with my ob that a LAVH/RSO would be done and this dr agreed. So I have had plenty of time to research so that is not an issue.

I guess I was not too worried about getting my questions answered at this visit since I knew I would have a pre op and I think the questions I have would be more for a pre op appt since they are related. I also have plenty of time between pre op and op since the pre op is July 1st and op is July 29th.

Oh and I am sooooo OK with it.

But I guess what I am trying to ask is do I just whip out my piece of paper and start rattling them of?

How do you go about getting all your questions answered?

Yes, just pull out the paper and ask away. That's how I did it. I've had docs tell me they like when patients have a list. It's not a social visit so don't worry about waiting for an invitation to ask questions. Also, don't hesitate to take the time to write down the answers as they're given. It's hard to retain it all when there's so much information.
