DaVinci Method Positioning

I had a Davinci Method total hysterectomy on the 23rd (last Wed.). Does anyone know what type of position you are in when they pull out the stuff out of you through the vagina? I know you are flat on your back when the surgery occurs but I can not figure out why I can not sleep at night. My hips absolutely kill me at night. I can not and have never been able to sleep on my back. So I sleep on my sides. I am only sleeping at about an hour or so at a time. My hips hurt so bad. I would say it is a 6 - 8 out of 10 on the pain scale.

I am trying to figure out if there is a correlation on which way I was positioned on the table during the surgery and the way I am sleeping at night. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Angie

Re: DaVinci Method Positioning

HI!
I had da vinci surgery also. Was in the op room for over 6 hrs! I was told afterwards that they put you at an angle...alot of time on your side....no wonder you hurt
I had bruises on one side for a week or so.
I am glad I did not know this before.
Finally after 2 weeks or so I could sleep on one side (supported by pillow)

I so understand what you are going thru.
Besides the sore throat.....and all.

I still took my Atvian for months after so I could sleep.

Re: DaVinci Method Positioning

I had a Da Vinci hysterectomy. When I was first wheeled into the OR I was flat on my back, but after anesthesia begins they put you into the "dorsal lithotomy position". I got this phrase from my surgical report, but I knew this ahead of time. The table is tilted so that your head is down very low and your legs are at the higher point. This is done so that your internal organs and intestines are out of the surgeon's way. I didn't have a headache or other pains from that position but I expected that I would. Incidentally, I am 9 months past surgery and feel great. The Da Vinci is the best!
