Surgery might be postponed! Anyone had this happen?! :-( (blood has extra antibodies)

I had my Pre op with the hospital today where they did a routine blood draw. Apparently it came back with extra antibodies and I had to go back in to have more blood taken so that they can source blood to have in the OR that matches mine exactly. Problem is that the blood has to come in from another state and might not get here in time!

I am freaking out! Anyone had this happen? What's bizarre is that this is not my first surgery and I've never been told this before!!

What a strange circumstance, and no I have never heard of this. BUT, we have many women on this site. Maybe one of them had something similar, and will see this post and respond.

We have had many women with their surgery postponed for one reason or another. I know it is very frustrating when it happens.

Hopefully the special blood will get to your hospital in time for your surgery.
