Re: Hair loss related to estrogen use?

I guess the upside to this thread is that it's nice to know I'm not the only one with hair loss issues.....

Sadly, I agree. That's what brought me back to sift through the forum today.

I think I've lost half of my hair at this point. Sigh.

Re: Hair loss related to estrogen use?

wondering if any of you gals noticed pubic hair loss as well? Im still trying to figure this out. My thyroid is slightly low, docs dont think that is the problem. I started losing tons of hair about 1 month after I stopped my estrogen/testosterone cream. My estrogen levels were always low at 26...When I just used the estrogen cream alone, my estro level went up to 61, but that is when all my hair started falling out, including the pubic? this has been going on for the last 8 months. Wondering if the higher estrogen level is causing this or low testosterone? nightmare trying to figure it out.

From what I've read - androgen deficiency (low testosterone) causes thinning of scalp and body hair. Pubic and underarm hair disappear and leg hair is less. If estrogen level is low, or thyroid level is low/too high - then hair loss will be much greater.

Re: Hair loss related to estrogen use?

Anytime my hormone dosages or type of hormone is changed I have lots of shedding for 6 months then it settles down. My gyn says this is common in a lot of women going through menopause.
