dVH/RALH What will it be like after the on-Q comes out?

Had davinci Thursday morning, removed uterus only, kept tubes, ovaries and cervix. So far I'm doing great and planning to work tomorrow. Doc told my friend who took me that I will be in a lot more pain when the on-Q comes out. Wondering if any of you ladies have had this. Does it get a lot worse? Right now I'm alternating ibuprofen and lortab 7.5 every three hours, and honestly I'm feeling just fine. Any help will be appreciated)

It's a pain med pump. It delivers numbing meds directly to the surgery site. After the first day and getting me up and moving I've been having very minimal pain.

Oh ok. I didn't have a pain pump. I am almost 5 weeks post op and took advil and percocet for the first 3 weeks. I still take something every now and then when I overdo things.

I'm not clear on when the on-Q is coming out? I'm thinking you might want to wait to return to work until it's out and you are off narcotic meds. I didn't have an on-Q in fact I thought they only used them for TAH, so that I can't say. My BSO davinci incisions hurt for about a week. By the end of a week most ladies seem to be off narcs anyway, so maybe having the on-Q gets you past the worst few days? Sorry I can't answer your original question but maybe you could share your experience when you do get it out? Remember, go easy this early even if you feel good, you're still healing inside. Thanks y'all) I'm supposed to take it out myself today. The narcs don't effect me too much. honestly with the pain I've been in for the last few months I work while I'm on them most of the time. I will take it easy, though, and if I feel it's too much I'll leave. I'm a choir/music teacher, and I CAN take it easy at work.
