I'm a little over 2 weeks post tvh...(kept my ovaries). I'm wondering when PMS starts, plus is it going to be the same as before? for ex: the same crabby, the same breast tenderness, the same amt of time? I realize everyone is different but am wondering with the uterus & cervix gone will it make a difference?
I had my post op appt on Friday. Still no yoga til 6 weeks is up..no weight training til 10 weeks. I asked her about having an orgasm & she said it was fine, but No intercourse. So any woman waiting out there....well I'll just say, I'm so glad I didnt have to wait 6 weeks!!
side note: my husband thought it was hilarious that I asked her: what if i accidently have an orgasm??? lolol, guess that is pretty funny......
Thanks ahead for your replies

As PMS is related to your hormone levels, it will depend on when your ovaries kick in after your hyst and how well they work. I actually had menopause symptoms mixed with PMS symptoms for a few months after my hyst, but they didn't start for a few weeks.

As I had been on the pill because of issues with my cycles, my PMS is worse now because the pill no longer helps control my PMS symptoms. However, PMS actually flucuates for me, some months being worse than others.

There have been several women who have posted on the site stating their PMS is much better post hyst, so let's hope you fall into that group!

Best wishes to you!

I'm six weeks post op tvh. I kept my left ovary. I have NOT had any cyclical feelings at all. I usually have wicked breast tenderness. Nothing happening yet.

Hey Ellit

I kept both my ovaries too Since I am a big baby, and because I was am 48 and worried the surgery would throw me into menopause I also took the precaution of having some bio identical HRT.
So far so good. But I did notice I had some pms but not as bad as in the past. Guess I will have to play it by ear.
As for sex. I asked my dr, too . He said 6 weeks for intercourse. I said what about other stuff. He said. No problem you can do that for dh! WHAT ABOUT ME. I asked. He thought this was funny!!!! I was not amused as you can imagine. Never did get an answer from him!!!!

and continued good recovery

Yep I had been on the pill also, for about 6 months because of heavy periods - who knew it was fibroids the whole time! apparently not the doctor i had (ugh). I actually was the one to realize something was wrong when I felt the fibroid on a remote camping trip.
I found a super doctor who confirmed my suspicions and plan on keeping her for yearly pelvics..just wish she was a GP - Love Her!!
Anyways guess its a wait/see for the pms.
Thanks
