TAH/RSO..what does RSO stand for?

Ok, I understand the TAH..total abdonimal hyster..and because I have not been to my pre-op yet, I am wondering what the RSO is? I see some folks have BSO after their TAH.

I am having a RSO..whatever that is!

This might sound funny but wanted to share this..when asked which day I wanted to have my surgery, I said NOT on a MONDAY! The nurse laughed and asked if I am superstitious..I said not really, I just know how I feel on Mondays and don't wanna be first off the block.

I kinda based it on the Consumer Reports report that showed the outcome of cars built on the various week days. Mondays and Fridays were usually missing parts, Tuesdays were ok, Wed was better but Thurs was the best.

I ended up having to choose Friday June 25 but decided it will be ok because it is not a long holiday weekend! AND I am going into the Operating Room with a bag full of chocolates for the OR staff. My sister and mom were both OR nurses and always appreciated patients who came bearing gifts!

BSO is Bilateral Salpingo Oophorectomy - removal of both ovaries

RSO is Right ovary removed, LSO would be Left.

RSO= right salpingo oophrectomy ( your right ovary and fallopian tube is coming out)
BSO= bilateral salpingo oophrectomy (both ovaries and tubes are coming out)
