Outpatient???

Hello,

I have already had a partial vaginal hyst. Everything except for my ovaries was removed. I go in on Monday to have both ovaries removed, endo burned and any scar tissue/ adhehesions removed. My question is.....has anyone come home the same day? They are only asking for my outpatient co-pay and there are currently no orders for me to stay. I have pre-op at 2 today with both the doctor and then the hospital. Would you ask to stay if necessary? I just don't want my kids to see me in more pain. It already affects them that I have had a lot of surgeries. Thank for listening.

Outpatient???

Shannon,

I had an LAVH in January and went home the same day. Surgery was at 9:30 and I was home by 1:45. They took everything but my ovaries and I was really shocked at how little pain there was and how great I felt. I can't say with any experience, but I can't imagine that a BSO would be any more painful. Email or PM me if you'd like... I'd be glad to share more.

I'm sure that if something were to arise making it necessary for you to stay that there wouldn't be a problem getting that approved.

Best wishes to you for a smooth surgery and speedy recovery.

Hi

Just to clarify: The term hysterectomy means removal of the uterus, it doesn't have anything to do with the ovaries. That is a different term altogether. Removal of both ovaries and the tubes is a Bilateral Salpingo Oopherectomy (BSO). So you already had a total hysterectomy.

The date in your profile is incorrect, it says that your hysterectomy is upcoming on April 11.

Thanks for changing the date in your profile, and best wishes on your surgery.
