Now it's December 19th...sigh.

Hello:

Now my official surgery date is Dec. 19th. :roll eyes: I sure hope it actually happens that day.
(I had gotten a call about maybe Dec. 12th at a different hospital, but my insurance co. said no because it would've been out of network.)

I go get my labs tests drawn tomorrow, and I asked for a hospital tour on Saturday.

Is there anything I have to be careful of for the day of surgery (other than nothing to eat or drink?) I don't want to do anything that would cause dr.s to say--sorry can't do surgery...

Thanks.

Hi Ki Ann

I hope your date sticks as well, as I am sure you were disappointed that the first date did not go through.

Tomorrow is the day to ask about the pre-night prep if any is required. They should tell you, but if they don't be sure and ask as some of us had to do a bowel prep with a lovely drink and/or an enema as well, so its important to find this out.

Also Ki Ann I don't know if you saw this already but there is a great list of pre-op questions on the home page. Scroll down to the bottom to the Ladies in Waiting menue and you will see it there. It has lots of questions that we tend to forgot to ask when at the pre-op.

Best of luck to you and I will keep you in my prayers that your date is a go!!!

Hi there Ki Ann! Sorry about the postponment of your surgery, but hopefull you will be able to have it on your new date, the 17th. Here is a list of herbs you should discontinue before surgery:

You also will not want to take any aspirin, aspirin products or blood thinners before your surgery.

Your doc will give you instructions at your preop appointment. Use the list Maria gave you. Those are great questions.

Take care and let us know how everything goes!

December 19th is a lucky day for hysts. You'll do great.

In addition to not eating or drinking, do not chew gum. My doctor didn't warn me, and just by dumb luck I did not chew any. But they did ask when I got to the castle, and would have cancelled me if I had chewed gum. Eeesh.
