Just curious...positioning of our body during hysterectomy surgery!

Hi girls,
I read a lot about the reason why our backs hurt is because the way out bodies are positioned during surgery. Does anyone know exactly how our bodies are positioned? I'm almost 3 weeks post op & I feel like I had back surgery.

Look at your pathology report, they have to specify exactly how you were position during the surgery. Then just google those terms and you will be able to find exactly how you were positioned! Or you could just look up lithotomy positions and see the various ways that we are positionedI used to wonder the same thing! Lol

I know that I was strapped in like I was being crucified before surgery. I would assume they also used stirrups for the cuff. So not the most comfortable position for sure. Thankfully, most of my pain is in my hips.

Ah ha! That explains why my hips hurt so bad! Thank you for asking this. And thanks for answering varmstrong. Basically what I pictured in my head.

That's what I pictured as well. That's why I feel like I was hit by a truck.

I had a bruise at the same place on each hip bone.

I know I was in the same position. So maybe I'm not going crazy. Since about a week after surgery, around the time I was decreasing my pain meds, my left shoulder started to hurt. It hasn't improved at all since. If I reach for anything over shoulder height I get pain. I was thinking it had to be one of two things. Either the way I was positioned for more then 2 hours, I do have shoulder/neck issues, or I used that arm to prop myself up in bed after surgery.
