Re: Anyone familiar with the blood thinner shots?

Are you taking Lovenox? Check with the doctor to double check about the medication squirting out. But continue to take them daily around the same time. Wipe your skin with an alcohol pad and let it dry. Don't fan it. Don't pinch your skin while giving yourself the injection (it will cause bruising) in the abdomen. Make sure you rotate injections sites on your abdomen. Just think of your abdomen divided into 4 quadrants or sections and rotate sections each day. When giving the injection, press the plunger to give the injection. Press it again the engage the safety shield over the needle. This also helps if you didn't give yourself the full dose like you explained in your question. You still may have some bruising, but not pinching your skin and rotating sites will help to minimize this.

Re: Anyone familiar with the blood thinner shots?

I had to do the injections at home for 14 days. I am 37. I injected all of them myself. The same happened to me with one of the injections. I wasnt able to get it to release itself. When I pulled it out and pressed it, liquid did come out. I didn't call the doctor I just made sure to get them to release fully after that.

Good luck!

Anyone familiar with the blood thinner shots?

I had lovenox for 26 days. Hubby gave me the shots. The type I had would click and release once all was injected and he said it took some pressure to get the click. Despite everything my tummy looked like a bruised nightmare for some time-I did not like them. My dr also had me wear prescription compression stockings for 28 days following surgery too-I am 60 years young! But now at 7 weeks out and no complications at all. Each dr seems to have their own recipe for success it seems.best of luck this will pass-I feel for you!

Re: Anyone familiar with the blood thinner shots?

I was told I would have to do the injections for 28 days, then just before I left the hospital, it was changed to 6 days. I was in hospital for 5 days, so just 1 day at home. I was 49 when I had my surgery and kept my ovaries. Since the requirements changed while I was in hospital, it probably depends on how you respond to the surgery, how active you are in hospital, etc. I was also originally told I would have to wear compression stockings for 2 weeks when I came home and ended up not having to wear them at home at all.
