Post-Op 7 wks keep getting infections HELP

I am 7 weeks post-op and I have had one infection after the other. Three days after surgery I was given an antiobiotic for fever and infection and yeast infection. Two days after I was treated for a UTI. At two weeks and I saw athe doctor because of abnormal bleeding. He removed internal blood clots around the stitches and put me on iron because of the amount of blood loss. At six weeks, the specialist, said his job was done and to make an appointment with my regular ob/gyn in a month. Two days after this visit I began running a fever of 102F. I not only had pelvic pain but a sore throat, ear ache and swollen glands. I went to my family doctor and he put on an antiobiotic and diflucan. Eight days later I was urineating every twenty minutes. So I went back to family doctor he did a urine test and I had blood in my urine and white blood cell count was up. He put me on another antiobiotic. Last night I woke up in severe pain in my lower pelvis and back and and joint pain in my hip. I have been crying and thinking what I should do. I put in a call to my ob/gyn but no response yet. Who is supposed to be treating me? I guess if I don't improve I will go to the hospital. Has anyone else had this experience? Any recommendations?

Rhanks.

Tophatt - I would go to the hospital and see if you can get a CT scan - or see early in the week if one of your Dr's can send you out for one. Either the Gyn or GP. I had post op infections also and the CT with contrast diagnosed them. BUT I did not get better and I was not as aggresive as I should have been about following up. Mostly because I thought I was 90% better so the 10% must just be normal healing right?? Wrong! My infections ended up getting out of control and turned very serious. I had to have another major surgery to fix it all.

Please just be aggresive about your own care. There cannot be a price for your own peace of mind, so if it is something minor you get to feel relieved and if it is something more, than you get to fix it before it is a huge problem.

I really do feel for you having travelled the same road. Big hugs to you and let us know how you are doing.

Thank you so much for sharing this with me. I did go to the hospital emergency room tonight. They did a CT, x-rays, blood and urine. Definitely had a UTI, CT looked normal but ER Doc recommended CT with contrast. I would have to have my doctor or a specialist order this test. The pain was so bad my family doctor recommended I go to ER. They put me on an antibiotic, peridine, and percocet. I feel comfortable but still have pain. I will follow up with my dr on Monday. Er doc also recommended I see a urologist. I think I will definitely do that too.

I also had endometriosis, adeomyosis, and pelvic congestion syndrome. I guess this endo can really do damage to you other major organs. I had no idea.

Thank you again for sharing with me your experiences, care and concern. I am going to follow through as recommended.

I'm glad you got it checked out. I'm sorry you are in so much pain!! That stinks!!

I'm also glad you are going to follow up and get the CT with contrast.

I'll pray for you that it is nothing serious and an easy fix.

Hugs,

Having a hysterectomy is bad enough, but to go through all that you have been going through, my heart goes out to you. I will keep you in my prayers.
