Hello every one,

2-15 was it for me! I had a TAH/BSO. I came home 2-18. Had lots of gas pains. I feel very fortunate. Reading some of the posts, alot of ladies had mopheine pumps. The only pain meds I had were Demerol shots.
They gave me Ibuprofen and Toradol injections for the inflammation. Even when I went home, I was told to take Ibuprofen 800 mg three times daily. I certainly didn't need any more help with constipation like pain meds can sometimes cause.
I suppose that maybe I have a higher tolerance to pain. I am planning on returning to work 3-5. I have a very understanding boss (he is a surgeon). He told me I can work as much or less as I feel I can. I have already been off work for 2 wks and can't afford to miss a lot more. By the way, I work in a physicians office, so no lifting. Just answering phones, and paper work. For the last two weeks, my sister has been at my home helping with all of the house work, etc. She has been a life saver to me. I hope everyone out there has understanding family and friends to help out for a least the first week or so. Because it does get better. I was very aprehensive before my surgery, as is all of the LIW. It is only natural. Just keep a postive mental attitide, and you will do great!

Welcome back, Princess Kim! Glad your surgery and castle stay went well, and that you are recovering nicely. That's great you have a job where you'll be looked after by a surgeon! But be sure you take as much time off as you can afford to, since even sitting upright for long periods can put pressure on your stitches. Maybe you can work half-days for a couple weeks? It sounds like you had great support and help at home. Take it easy as much as you can and hope you heal quickly. Best wishes
Ruthie
