Re: swelly belly

I think it completely varies. And I don't think it is still the gas trapped in there from the actual surgery. I believe the stomach muscles and intestines are inflamed and possibly not working as well to push things through. There is an article on this site explaining it that I found very helpful. I just wish it would go away and I am six weeks on Friday!

Re: swelly belly

hello
My swelly belly has been nothing to do with gas since about week 1.
I can feel it is purely inflammation, that is receding each week. At week 13 I still have it in the evenings, but almost gone in the mornings.
I didn't have any problems with gas pain or constipation after about Day 4 so it's not always related to your BMs.
Some people are just affected more than others and sadly, we just have to deal with this patiently grrrr! ;-)

swelly belly

I want to specify what I was saying about swelly belly and gas and air. I'm not sure if all hysterectomies are the same as far as the drs putting air in your tummy. It was explained to my after my surgery that my swelly belly was from the air that used to enlarge my tummy to see inside better. I did have to pass gas as one of the many things you have to do in order to be able to go home. I was in hospital for 2 days due to pain medication issues and it took me till the next day to pass gas. But they also told to try and avoid gassy foods so it doesn't add on to the belly inflammation. It was recommended to me yo take the stool softeners just so I wouldn't have to strain when I did have a bm and it helped a lot. Indeed everyone is different and not everyone will have the swelly belly but it's good to hear that other ladies had it for other reasons, I was just sharing what I was told it was by the nurses.

Re: swelly belly

Ah! Swelly Belly! So that's what it is! My supply of "comfortable" clothes shrunk considerably after surgery. I'm still hoping to shrink some more....knowing it may take a while helps. Of course, my appetite is much more intense than normal too. Anyone else experiencing this?

swelly belly

Oh no you ate spicy food? I wasn't really hungry for several days when I came home from hospital but when I did eat only had easy digesting foods or soup or cereals. I have issues with tummy bloating anyhow so maybe that is why I watched what I ate and drank.

swelly belly

I lost some weight since my surgery and tomorrow I get to go back to the gym, missed my Zumba so much, but at the same even with exercising I'm worried about gaining weight like they say you can. So don't fill your belly up to much. I'm just kidding.
