Vaginal Cuff?

OK, I have read quite a few posts regarding vaginal cuff. I had a TAH/BSO, he (doc) never said anything about a cuff. If he didn't say anything, do I assume I have one or not?

You would have to know whether he took the cervix or not. If he did then you have a cuff. From what my doc described its kinda like a sock now..hee hee. The sock opening is the vaginal entrance and the top of the vagina is sewn shut like the toes of a sock.

He left the cervix, so I guess that means no cuff. I feel really stupid. I'm sorry. Thank you!!!

There's no need to feel stupid. The terms can be confusing! You might want to double check with your doctor just to be sure. TAH stands for Total Abdominal Hyterectomy and in that kind, the cervix is removed so you would have a vaginal cuff. If you kept your cervix, you had a SAH or Subtotal Abdominal Hysterectomy and there would be no vaginal cuff.

I think I had an SAH, because I do remember he said I was going to keep my cervix. Thank you for clearing this up for me.
