Still Waiting

Thought I would give a little update. Been waiting for a month to see urologist and appt. suppose to be tomorrow (Jan 28). This is when gyno and uro suppose to schedule date for tvh and urethral sling. Well, the weather here is terrible. Drive to the uro is 3 hours in good conditions and will be almost impossible with the weather now. I called to see when I could get in next, the receptionist told me it would be the middle of March. So as bad as I don't want to...I guess I'm going to have to trudge through freezing rain to get to that appt.

Can you believe it? Been waiting for so long...just needed to vent. Just wondering if this will ever be over.

I guess all things happen for a reason. I'm just so frustrated.

Try playing some enjoyable music on the long drive. Leave extra early so you don't feel rushed. I hated too how if I couldn't make one doctor appt. then the next available one is a couple of months away.
When I tried to make my 2 week post op appt., I was told the doctor was booked for over a month. I was extremely frustrated and told them that the doctor could do surgery but not check me. So, they scheduled me with the nurse practitioner to check my incision. I still didn't see the surgeon for 6 weeks post op. I had to even order my own pathology/surgery reports so I knew what was going on.
Keep pushing the system to get the care you deserve.

In our local newspaper this morning, they had an article on how bad the cold weather is there in AR. After reading it, I was concerned about your drive. I hope it went well and you have a date setup. Let us know.

Thank you all so much for your encouraging words. It turns out that the weather didn't get as bad as the forecasters predicted. I saw the urologist today.... had the cough test. That was not a pleasant experience but it had to be done. i will have the suburethral sling along with the tvh.

i won't know my schedule date until thursday (Jan 29), but at least i know the end is near. i know it will be before Feb 20. i will update you all tomorrow.

the sling will be a mesh but my doctor assured me it is not the same mesh that has had all the bad reports. i certainly hope he is right because i'm a little concerned. anyone else have the mesh for this type of sling? if so, how's your outcome?

Thanks for the update. I didn't have a sling but I strongly suggest you open up a thread and ask other sisters about it. Or you could do a search (upper right hand corner) on this website to see what others have said about them.
