These are very common. Did you have your ovaries removed? I had a TAH four weeks ago. I was able to keep my ovaries but still had major night sweats and hot flashes. I thought I was going to die. I couldn't sleep. Everytime I would get soaking wet I would wake up freezing because I had cooled off and had no covers on. I have been told and have also read on here that these are perfectly normal. During the surgery your ovaries go into an almost coma state. They go to sleep for lack of a better word or explanation. While they are sleeping they are not functioning properly thus the hotflashes and night sweats. They went away for me within the first two weeks of recovery. I no longer have the extreme hot flashes or night sweats but I tend to run a bit warmer than others around me. If someone is blasting a furnace or a heater in a car I am normally the first one to complain that it is too hot but this has in no way effected my everyday life. Hang in there. It will get better.

I'm having the same problem. My TAH was on 4/8, and I was able to keep my ovaries. As endoals says, hopefully this will taper off soon...

Scare - I hope that you can find relief soon

I don't have my ovaries and made it through 6 weeks without any major night sweats. But, the last few nights I've woken up drenched in sweat. It's even been bothering me during the day. I don't know if it's related, but our weather has warmed up drastically. I'm guessing without ovaries, my system will be extra senstive to the heat.

Scaredcat
You can call your Dr and talk to him/her about it. They can give you HRT to help with this. You don't have to be on a high dose like I am. I don't have my ovaries so I'm on a 1.25 mg/daily dose. This helps with my hot flashes . I still get hot and sweat but not as much as you are.

night sweats ?

I had a TAH on 3-20 and the hot flashes and night sweats just started in for me about a week ago. I didn't keep my ovaries. I have been getting up in the middle of the night and going to stand outside. I live in Maine where the night temp is still in the 30 degree range. I have started turning the heater off at night, which is going to save a bunch in heating costs, and put another blanket on the bed for DH. That has helped a lot with the night sweats. During the day I am always fiddling with the thermostat. HRT is not an option for me, not even herbals because of my bipolar. Any type hormones going into my system throws my moods way out of whack. I have honestly been happier than I have ever been since my surgery and plan on keeping it that way as long as I can. My wonderful DH is use to getting up and grabbing a sweatshirt when I turn things down during the day. And he doen't mind the heat being shut off at night because it is better than me overheating and driving him out of bed. I wish I knew of an alternative way to combat this without putting anything into my body. A cold face cloth helps some especially folded on the back of my neck. I hope it gets easier for you.

I started HRT 2 days after surgery, so I haven't had these. I've had a little bit of very mild hot flashes during the day, but only 2-3 times.
