Re: Ouch!

TVH on 7/6

I am like you and don't want to take pain meds unless I'm well...having surgery.

The cramping I experienced was worse than the pain from the recovery and completely alleviated by maalox. I had a gas bubble that I thought would rip me in two, but the maalox got rid of it.

Re: Ouch!

Let me remind you this is major surgery you just had, and that is why you have so much pain. Inflammation causes a lot of it. After my TVH I took Aleve 2 tabs every 12 hrs to treat the pain and inflammation, for 3 weeks. You are only days post op. Round the clock scheduled ibuprofen or Aleve can really minimize, or in my case eliminate, the need for narcotics. I think with a TVH there are no visible incisions so its easy to think it wasn't like a real surgery, but it is the same surgery, and still major. Please don't stress your body more by not treating the pain sufficiently, give yourself a break. Best wishes for a good recovery.

Re: Ouch!

Hi.. i had my tvh on 7/2. Man your right.. THIS HURTS..I think the first week is the hardest i am day 9 and finally feel like i am getting back to normal somewhat? I had no bm for 8 days!! i was up all night with pain and gas.. i woke up today and called the doc and he said get a fleet enema.. OMG was that painful.. but i finally have relief.. hurray.. i don't feel so bloated!!... I only take a motrin maybe 2-3 times a day for pain. so it IS getting better everyday.. I was so scared my bowels had forgotten how to work..i think when you can just get yourself in a really comfy spot and take a nice sleep, you wake up feeling so much better everytime..i can't wait till times goes by and i will be back to my old self minus the pain i am in..we did this for a reason afterall... sorry had to vent .. just wanted to tell you you are not alone... hang in there ..we will be feeling great soon!!!

Re: Ouch!

I have a sneaking suspicion that we are all not drinking enough water. Today I'm going to drink 4 32ozers of water. That should help with the gas and constipation.Yesterday I only had about 60 ozs of water, has bad bloating as well.
