New to site...please help me!

I keep having the same type of pain as my endo that led to my total hysterectomy back in Feb 2006. I lived in CA at the time, so I can't go back to the same doctor. Been to my GP, an OBGYN, General Surgeon; vaginal & abdominal ultrasound, pelvic exam, cat-scan, even a barium enema (knew that would come back normal!) Doctors will not listen to me that this is the SAME EXACT pain as before. Can you tell me how many are out there that the endo returned post-op? I am in pain EVERYDAY, not to mention that sex is out of the question lately due to the pain. Please help me.....

Queen Mel:

I am so sorry you are in pain.

If you go the right hand side of the screen, you can do a Google Search of this site. I searched "endo pain" and found several threads that talk about this.

Here is the link to one of them that says endo can come back after a hyster. Also that you may experience pain from the scar tissue.

I didn't have endo, so I can't share my personal experience on the subject, but I am sending you LOTS of HUGS and wishing you a lot of luck in determining the source of your pain. Keep working with your Drs until you find the solution - no one should have to live like that. Hang in there!!

I am so sorry you are dealing with this pain! My goes out to you!

Unfortunately, there are many ladies who find they have issues with endometriosis post hysterectomy. It is not that the endo comes back per se, but rather not all of the endometriosis was removed during the initial surgery(ies).

We have an Endometriosis Support forum where you will find many of us who have dealt with or are dealing with endometriosis post hysterectomy.

My best advice for you includes keeping a very detailed symptom diary, learning all you can about endometriosis, and finding a doctor who is knowledgeable regarding endometriosis--an endometriosis specialist would be best but other options could include a pelvic pain specialist, reproductive endocrinologist, fertility specialist, gynecological oncologist. You want someone who primarily treats women with chronic issues if you can find such a physician.

I know this is frustrating and I want you to know that you are not alone! in there!

I'm so sorry your in pain. Don't give up you'll figure it out! There are so many reasons for pelvic pain. I'm only 3 wks po. Have the same right side hip pain. Some other sisters mentioned the psoas muscle. I believe that's the problem. I've read bladder,IBS,etc. Can cause pain. If you have fibromyalgia that can cause the pain too.Good luck to you and I really hope they won't blow you off because its horrible to be in pain.Big Hug to you!!!Karen

Hi (((queenmel31)))

I am very sorry to hear that you are still having issues this far out from your surgery. Have you had the opportunity to consult with a neurologist? If your OBGyns are not coming to any concrete conclusions for you, perhaps someone who specializes in chronic pain issues could help. Take care!
