bladder problems over active
Hi I am about 4 weeks post op and I have been peeing like a race horse.. it seems as though I go about every 20min and sometimes more, even after I go I sometimes feel the need to go again..I am not getting much sleep because I am up using the bathroom all night it is driving me crazy, I go see the doc on Tuesday and I just finished a coarse of meds for bladder infection...I have also noticed that I am leaking urine. does any one know what this could be from? would it be a good ideal to keep a log on how many times I go? any help would be great I hate to think I have to deal with this forever.

I think that the log or diary is a great idea. It could very well be that the meds did not clear your infection up completely. Was there a culture done to determine what kind of bacteria you are dealing with or was it a general antibiotic for the usual kind of uti? The leaking could be related to your uti. It is best to talk to your doctor about your symptoms.

Re: bladder problems over active
I went through two UTIs (or probably the first one wasn't completely healed) and finished two full course of antibiotics. I did the urine test which came back negative but I continued to have the symptoms of UTI. I explained this to my doctor & nurse, but because the urine test came back negative, they stopped prescribing antibiotics. 1 1/2 weeks later I started having much worse pain in the middle of abdomen. My gyn looked inside laparoscopically and also did cystoscopy. I was told I have the bladder condition called interstitial cystitis (IC). I went to see an urologist who told me that I only had the pain since the surgery so she doesn't think I have an IC. She thinks I have an acute cystitis (acute bladder infection) and she put me on two weeks of antibiotics. The pain is finally going away gradually. I would highly recommend you see an urologist (not a general doctor). I hope you will feel better very, very soon. Hugs.

Re: bladder problems over active
thanks you guys!!! this has really helped knowing I am not alone in dealing with something like this, I think I will look into seeing a urologist and at least try to keep some kind of record of whats going on
