Incision Opening 9 weeks post op

I have a question for all you wonderful ladies......9 weeks post-op one of my laproscopic incisions suddenly turned maroon and looked very angry. Not one to panic, I decided to wait and see, since prior to this my incision sites had looked fantastic! The next day the incision opened and started bleeding so off to urgent care I went, since my gyn dr was unavailable. The dr there said it was a pocket of fluid behind the incision site that had burst open and caused the incision to open as well. Not convinced of his answer, I am seeing a gyn dr today. Any answers from you all?

Sounds to me that the doctor is right. It could be a minor abscess. Did he give you antibiotics to deal with it?

Re: Incision Opening 9 weeks post op

I had something similar happen at three weeks when I thought I had healed. It was very scary as a LOT of green fluid poured down my leg. Turned out to be a wound infection that had to come out somewhere. I had been feeling sick already so the antibiotics helped clear the infection up, but it took a few weeks for the incision to close afterward. Now I'm good as new, but I quickly learned to take it easy. Best of luck!

Well the dr said it was an infection behind the incision. Dr also said it is very rare to have this happen so long after a surgery. On antibiotics and recheck in a week. Thanks for your help!
