Surgical Packing Left

Hi,
My vag hyster was Feb 8. On Feb 9th I was sent home and found out Mar 03 that the surgical packing had been left inside on the vag cuff. I started noticing a really bad smell and had a nasty Dc about 9 days later, called the Surgical Gyn line and was prescribed oral pills called flagyl over the phone. After 7 days, I was still not better and the smell was so bad I almost vomited a few times. I was also having bladder problems, running a consistent fever. I was finally told by my Sur GYN to come in so she could do an exam. When she inserted the speculum she found the packing. IT SMELLED SOOOOO BAD!! She did a culture and 3 days later I was told I didn't have any infection. I was put on a flagyl suppository for 7 more days but It is now Apr 04, and I still have a dingy yellow DC, but it doesn't smell.
I am filing charges due to the negligence of the nurses who told my Gyn that the packing had been removed. I have all of my paperwork and documentation/rounds of my hospital stay etc. Has anyone else experienced this?

Oh my goodness! While this did not also happen to me, I just have to say I am so sorry that happened to you..it's outrageous. Did they remove some of the packing and just not get it all? It seemed like I had a mile of it, but definitely got immediate relief when it came out...just wondered if they took any of yours out at all. Keep posting and updating on progress, things should get much better now!

Im so sorry you had it happen as well!! I think what upset me more is that an LPN came in and asked if it was removed. I told her I didnt know what it was. I was highly out of it from pain meds and had no idea what a "packing" was (i had no idea it was 5 feet of gauze smashed in there!!!!)
