Has anyone had their incision become infected? What did you do? What was the treatment? How did you know it was infected?

I didnt have my incision get infected but if it does i believe it would get red, hurt, and possiblly have puss coming out of it. If you think you have one you should call your doctor

Mine did, and ladyfair called it exactly. My doctor washed it with Hydrogen Peroxide, and put me on an antibiotic, and it's getting better. He wasn't too concerned, since it was only a surface infection. I'm washing it with H.P at home now too.

If you feel you have an infection, you should contact your dr immediately. It is best not to attempt to treat the infection with out the advice of your MD. You also may wish to monitor your temperature as well.

Best wishes.

I am on antibiotics for a possible infection just to be safe, nothing external though. I think see your DR. I had to drive myself very far to see mine, but he said always come in to take a look to be sure. One less thing to have on your mind...
Ps Where is the spell check? I really need one!

I had to call my doctor today because about two inches of my incision is red/purple swollen, and oozing yellowish stuff. The outer skin did not heal over on this part. My doctor put me on antibiotic ointment and oral antibiotics for seven days. It is such a pain. It really makes you realize that you have to slow down and rest. Call your doctor and good luck!

Oh Diamond! I hope you don't have one but please call Doc and let him look at it. Even if it does not 'look' like it but you have that 'feeling'...push him to see it.
