Pre admission/op today and I am not happy!

My appointment was for 9:30, and I was there on time. The admissions portion was done in a matter of ten minutes, no waiting to be seen. I give them 5 stars.

I was then taken to the area where they do the pre op screening. We sat there for about 20 minutes when this woman comes out looks through the charts and calls my name. She tells me she is sorry but they have a barriatrics class at 11:00 and they had to have all of those people done first and that I would have to wait an additional hour. I finally got called back, by then 40 minutes behind but the nurse I had was very nice and got me through in a reasonable time. She then escorted me over to the lab area to get my blood and urine tests done. Darned if that same woman didn't come in with one of the "BARRIATRICS" patients and told them to take her before me.WTH

I am none to happy about this and hope I get a patient questionaire to fill out, this is going to be something I will note. I realize there is big money in surgeries like this, but I have insurance and money too! Soooo not a happy camper at the moment.

Pre admission/op today and I am not happy!

Wow - that must have been totally annoying. I am preparing myself for a similar situation when I go to the hospital tomorrow for my pre-op stuff. Ugghhh. I so totally want to get this thing done and over with!

The more I think about it, the madder I get! Why bother scheduling people you don't give a poo about on days when you know you have a mass crowd to deal with?

I think that is exactly the problem - people don't care about one another anymore. At least that is the way I am starting to feel. I know that sounds really negative, but the only supportive people I am running into these days are the ladies on this board. I am very thankful for you guys!

I think you are exactly right. I have to agree with you. I get more support here than anywhere. Mostly I think people are uncomfortable with talking about hysts. But here we are all in for the same ride. Talking helps, so does listening.

My Mom always taught me to be kind to others, and that's what I've done my whole life, and got a lot of unkindess back to me.

Fortunately none here! Everyone has been so great!

As far as pre-op appointment, I go in to sign paperwork tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have a chance to talk w/ my doctor then. I hope I don't have to wait as long as you did Davinci! I'm not good at waiting!

Pre admission/op today and I am not happy!

Don't get me wrong I don't mind waiting when it is necessary. This was not necessary this is a normal Thursday to do for them. They knew this when they put me down for 9:30. It's called poor planning and scheduling and then toss in a snooty prissy nurse and well there ya go you have a p'd off hormonal woman about to have surgery ready to rip your head off lol.

Pre admission/op today and I am not happy!

The medical industry seems to have changed so much in the last 10 years. I dread every appointment because of the lack of service and apparent concern for the patient. My pre-op is next Tuesday for a TAH scheduled for the 29th. I still have my moments of indecision about the surgery in spite of all of the physical discomfort I've put up with for so long. If I have a pre-op appointment such as your's, I might think it is a sign from God telling me not to proceed!

Pre admission/op today and I am not happy!

My pre-op was scheduled for 9:15 at my ob/gyn. The room was empty when I got there and soon it was completely full. At 10:00 I asked a girl next to me when here appt. was and she said "9:15 with Dr. <name removed per site Guidelines>." That was my same appt. Same doctor. I don't get it either. It's like our time is not as important as theirs!!! I was so irritated when I finally got to see the doc that my blood pressure was up and she questioned that. I told her why and she shut up.

No respect for our time.

Pre admission/op today and I am not happy!

My brother-in-law is a gyn onc, so I know first hand how much time they spend with their patients, away from their families. Personally, I wouldn't want to trade their time commitment for my job's time commitment.

That being said, when I phoned my gyn onc in May to make an appointment, the earliest appointment wasn't until July. I went to the appointment in July, only to find out that he was attending a conference and was out of town. I couldn't get another appointment until August. I was so stressed out. This is a cancer doctor I am talking about! Perhaps they should limit the size of their practice if it takes so long to get an appointment! Sheesh....

And BoogieDown - that double booking stuff is totally unacceptable!
