Mystery Discharge
Last year, after having an ablation, I got a severe bacterial infection. A couple weeks after it cleared up, I started having a gushing clear watery discharge. I will have water gush from the vagina. It happens off and on 24/7. I have to wear heavy pads because there is so much watery discharge. Went to a couple different doctors who had never seen anything like it. I've had all kinds of tests and nothing showed up.
My current obgyn said it could be from fallopian tube cancer since this was a symptom of it. To be on the safe side, I had different tests to make sure I didn't have an fistulas. They tested for infection and there wasn't one.
On September 28th, had a laproscopic vaginal hysterectomy. They took everything because I also had cysts on my ovaries. When they took out my uterus, I had a ugly fibroid tumor the size of the uterus. During the surgery, they again did a test to make sure there wasn't any fistulas. No fistulas and the doctor said the discharge could have been from the fibroid.
Two days after my hysterectomy, the watery discharge came back. First slowly and now it's back full strength. No one can understand where it is coming from because everything is gone. The doctors don't have an answer.
Today has been a bad day. Every hour, I have to change pads. I am becoming deeply depressed. I feel better since the hysterectomy, probably due to the hormones. But, I am so tired of living with this. I am a very active person who bikes and surfs. I haven't done any activity for almost a year because of this discharge. I was so hopeful and now I feel so discouraged. Sorry for rambling. I'm just so tired of living with this. I'm putting this out there hoping someone has heard about this. I've done tons of internet searches and nothing comes up like what I'm experiencing. Please help!

Re: Mystery Discharge
Can imagine how discouraged you are...I googled your problem, which you likely have also--other women had a watery discharge after ablation...some with your problem were told it could be BV or herpes...for what that's worth...It almost seems like you have a cyst that's leaking, but surely(?) the docs would have noticed...Hope you're rid of the problem, and soon.

Re: Mystery Discharge
Thanks Stardancer! I was tested for everything imaginable before the surgery. I guess the hardest part is that no one else has experienced this. It would make it easier if someone could relate. I guess that's why this site is a blessing. Now that they took everything out, I can't even imagine why this is still happening. I don't even have a cervix. Anyway, I'm hoping someone else can share my experience even though I don't wish this on anyone. It would just make it easier to know I'm not the only one out here.

Re: Mystery Discharge
Lynette,
I experienced a water discharge for YEARS so I know what you are going thru. Mine didn't require a regular pad (I wore a liner everyday) though so I feel so badly for you . But sometimes depending on where I was in my cycle, I would have what felt like mini-gushes of watery liquid. ANNOYING!!! Last August I had a colposcpy and scraping of my cervix because a pap revealed I had CIN III pre-cancer spots all over my cervix. I thought maybe the discharge was because of that - the scraping did help but I still had slight discharge. I just had a LAVH (Aug 31) - but kept my ovaries and I'm interested to see if I don't have that discharge anymore after I heal completely.
Best of luck to you -- I hope you find an answer SOON to this. HUGS!

Re: Mystery Discharge
MelzieJune...thanks for your reply. This discharge happens every day. I was hoping it would be part of my cycle, but it never stops. It's exactly like that....a mini-gush. It's so freaky! I'm going to see the doctor in the morning. I'm hoping she will have all my biopsy results. I'm also hoping she will have some answers. I don't understand how it could be happening when everything is gone. I have no ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes, or cervix. I'm trying not to become completely depressed. I want my life back! Thanks for the hug!!!

Re: Mystery Discharge
I am probably just out in left field but I am just trying to think of possiblities here. I am thinking that your natural lubrication with arousal is clear and somewhat watery....could it be an overactive something? (I have no clue what part of our body or gland it is that secretes it!!) But it is just a thought

Re: Mystery Discharge
Thanks for your reply contemplating. This is somewhat different, but I can see how someone would think that. I even brought that up to the different doctors I've seen. I have googled this subject to death. hahaha The doctors first said the discharge was possibly from fallopian tube cancer because this type of discharge is a major symptom. I should get all the biopsy results tomorrow.
When they did the imaging before my hysterectomy, my uterus showed it was enlarged. The inside of my uterus came up as a weird orange color on the image. During surgery, it was discovered that there was an ugly tumor in my uterus that was larger than the uterus. That's why it didn't come up in the image. The doctors then said the discharge could have been from that. Now, the discharge is back, but I'm hoping it could just be a side effect from the surgery.

Re: Mystery Discharge
Thanks Wonder Woman. When I went to this new obgyn, that's the first thing she tested me for. She was very thorough. Because everything came back negative, that's why there was a thought it could be caused by fallopian tube cancer.
I haven't been tested for BV since my surgery. I'm hoping tomorrow she will be able to give me an answer. I can't believe I'm typing this, but I hope that's what it is and a pill can stop it.

Re: Mystery Discharge
Lynette,
Hi again -- before my colposcopy - (years before) I was also tested for EVERYTHING because my ob/gyn didn't know why the discharge was so profuse - nothing ever tested positive. Regardless, she put me on a round of all kinds of different antibiotics and ointments etc trying to see if something would stop the discharge. My primary dr used to be an ob/gyn and she also had no clue - she told me it was just the way my body was and I was just super lubricated. I ended up giving up - but my paps always came back showing something wasn't right - and I spent about a year repeating paps every 3 months till I had that colposcopy. Like I said, the discharge was a lot less after that but never went away completely. I just hated feeling super 'wet' ALL the time. I really know the frustration and aggravation and annoyance you are going thru. I switched ob/gyns for this surgery. At my first visit he told me during the exam that my uterus was enlarged and soggy - this was the first time I ever heard that - he did my hysterscopy and removed endo from my abdomen and discovered I also had a fibroid inside my uterus this spring..he attributed most of my problems to that - and also told me the cin3 that was removed the previous fall was a risk..i would be repeating paps every 3 months until I had a hysterectomy- I always thought that the watery discharge was definitely because of my cervix. My hysterectomy in Aug confirmed I had adenymosis - my uterus had turned into a hard round ball. I did constantly have bleeding and brown discharge almost every day of the month - which was caused by the fibroid - when that wasn't going on - the watery discharge and the bouts of yeast infections - there were a few days when I seriously felt at the end of my rope. I am really hoping those days are behind me. I have no cervix, uterus, or tubes..just my ovaries, which this dr confirmed were healthy. I hope you find an answer to this -- right now I have the yellowish discharge which I'm attributing to my stitches but it seems like it may be too much - I've had it for a week so if it continues into next week I'm going to the dr to be tested for vaginitis..UGH.. I used to think I was the only one going thru the 'wetness' issues - so to know I wasn't alone is comforting -- Take care and I'm really hoping you find some answers ASAP!!!HUGS!!!
