One ovary left lots of questions!

Had my tah w/rso on Aug 20, 2012. At 7 weeks post op I am feeling much better, however, I seem to have more bad days than good. I am still sore at the incision site and have a lot of uncomfortability beginning and ending urination. Treated for infection, still same problem. At least 3-4 days a week I feel like I have the flu. Exhausted, everything aches, hot and cold all at the same time. However, no flu. At least I have never heard of flu coming and going for weeks on end. Plus no one else in the house is ill. Flu usually spreads like wild fire. I get tired pretty easily and have severe lower back pain after even the most mild of activity. I am extremely irritable and emotional. What is going on with me?? I am 40 and had a very active life (except when I had my period). Now I have a difficult time standing for any length of time. Any advice out there please???

Re: One ovary left lots of questions!

ericamarie,
It sounds like most of the symptoms that you are having are fairly normal. Everyone heals at their own rate so you can't compare your recovery to anyone else. Some of what you are experiencing sounds like possibly menopause symptoms. Even if you kept your ovaries, it's pretty common for them to go to sleep for a period of time. That should get better as they 'wake up'.

Remember that it does take up to a year for complete healing. If you have a fever or are experiencing severe pain, by all means give your doctor a call.

Take care and I hope you feel better soon.
