23 hours - should NOT be decided by.......

((Systers))

In my opinion your time spent in hospital should not
be decided by some insurance company.

It should be decided by need and health. We are all people and I know there is no way in the world our hospitals would let anybody out of the hospital or do this kind of surgery as Day Surgery. It sounds so silly

ALL the Insurace will be doing is countin their costs. I thought the NHS was bad. Never would i want my hospital stay to be decided by cost efficient insurance companies. "jusy my own opinion" I am so glad that I can pay privately or go into hospital on the NHS and go home from hospital when the specialist or Gynae. Onc. feels I am good and ready.

I am thinking of you all who are having surgery this coing week love donna42

23 hour stay? HUH?

Had my 23 hr TVH on the 10th. Went in on Thurs morn at 5:45 and was out on Fri. morn at 6:00. Couldn't wait to go home and sleep in my own bed. Also knew that my dr. would have kept me longer if need be. Insurance co. are funny now about things and don't want to pay for anything. If I had stayed over night though we would have had to pay $200.00 more. One thing for sure, they will not send you home if they do not feel it is safe for you to go home.

23 hour stay? HUH?

I go in at 0730 with operative time at 0905...doc says I will stay at least overnight with the catheter and vag packing from LAVH the next morning...he said If I wanted to stay another day or if he felt I needed to stay, he would "vreate" a reason for the insurance to pay for it...which is not an uncommon practice...very easy to use intractable nausea and vomiting or slow return of bowel function (which I believe is the most common)...my insurance company pays for an overnight stay...lol

of course, I delivered babies in the early 90's when I was in less than 24 hours with both...lol
