Having a double surgery

I'm just a few days away from having both my uterus removed and my gall bladder removed. I'm having such a good time I can't even begin to explain it. I guess having the gall bladder go wonky at this time keeps me from being scared about the hystie. Oh well Tuesday can't get here soon enough for me now. I'm just hoping I can keep the gall bladder from throwing another stone until then. I was worried about the hystie but at this point all I want is it all to be over and to not hurt anymore. Sorry to vent but this is the first site that has given me positive feedback on this operation all the others were very negative and not at all helpful. Thanks for being here!!

Having a double surgery

Hang in there!! A friend of mine had her gall bladder out last year, and she said she was amazed at how well she felt once it was out. Her recovery time was really speedy, and she felt very little pain. I hope you have as good an experience as she did. I'll be thinking of you.

Double Surgery

I'm having a vaginal hystie, they are both going to use the belly button so at least that's only one time. I know it's much better for me to have it done all at once because of the anesthesia. I go for the pre op on Friday so I'll ask her all the questions I've got written down!! Thanks for all the support!!

I think you're lucky getting both done at the same time. I had my gall bladder out about six years ago and was back to teaching in a week. It wasn't bad at all. Just had my hysterectomy 9 days ago and feeling pretty good already. My only recommendation is that you make sure they give you something for nausea in your IV. I didn't have that with my gall bladder surgery and throwing up is no fun when you have stitches. I did have it this time and it made a world of difference. Good luck and you will feel much better when this is over.

Having a double surgery

Gallbladder removal should be the easier of the two. When I had my gallbladder removed at age 23, it was shortly before they started doing them with a scope through a small incision. I have a 13-inch scar the lenght of my stomach. To this day (I'm 42), it looks like they used a chainsaw to do the surgery. Thank goodness progress has been made since then.

You will need to take it extra-easy, that's for sure. At least this will mean only one anesthetic, one incision, and one hospitalization. I'm assuming you are fairly healthy otherwise and that's why they are okay to do both at once.

All the best to you! Is there a gallsister site?
