Yesterday's Pre-Op

I had my pre-op yesterday. Everything went very well.

My doctor was so encouraging. She told me that I would have some pain after surgery but she doesn't believe I would have very much. I told her that Percoset leaves me short of breath. She asked if I have ever taken Loratab. I told her I do fine on those. So she said that is what I would get. I had my phone with the Hyster Sisters app pulled up to the page with all the pre-op questions. I asked my hubby to hold my phone until I was ready to ask the questions. She said, "How about we do those now? What are your questions?" Hubby remarked about how I've really done my homework. The doctor said, "I see that. I love that!" So my questions were answered and I felt great.

The doctor said my going home will depend on how well I pee. She said my driving limitation is, if I am still on the pain pills then I cannot drive. That's it. I was giving a paper telling me what to expect during pre-op, after surgery and at home. It was great!

So now I am 2 weeks away from having surgery. As well as that appointment went, I am still a bit nervous. But that's normal, right?

Re: Yesterday's Pre-Op

Got my pre op next week. What all will be checked there? I had a few surgerys in Germany but never a Pre op. So I have no clue, what to expect.

missaboo -

Glad your pre-op went well, and that you had your questions all ready. You are right, being nervous is very normal. This surgery is a very big deal. So you should be nervous.

For a pre-op, they can do a mini health check, including bloodwork, EKG, urinalysis, bp, weight, etc. You can also sometimes have a meeting with your doctor to discuss particulars of your surgery.
