My Story

Hey Goldie

Thanks for your kind words. When do you see your doctor again? Are you going to schedule a hyst or have you decided yet?

Let me know how things go.

I get my results back on Thursday for the thyroid stuff. Yikes just another thing to worry about.

Take Care

Hi Cath!

Please keep me posted on your test results on Thursday!! I'm really hoping and praying that you get good news!!
I won't be going back to the dr until October. The way it was left is, I'll call when things start happening!!! I usually start spotting and some bleeding on Lupron so, if I'm lucky, I'll get to the end of October. If not, I'll get in to see my dr. She wants to start me on HRT first with the hopes that I stay under control for a bit. She doesn't seem to hopeful. She left it with me that if the HRT doesn't work this time, we did everything we could. Then it would be either the myomectomy or hyst. I really don't want to do the myomectomy since the fibroids could grow back and I don't want to go thru this whole scenario again!!!
So. I can spend my time worrying about you and the other LIW until then!!
Please keep me posted on how you're doing!!
I don't know if you've ever said, how is your family handling all of this??
Talk to you soon!

My Story

Goldie

I must admit that I am quite nervous about the results. Whatever way you look at it I could be on thyroid medication for life and I may have to have surgery on the nodule . But then it could be worse

My mom is worried as she is leaving for Mexico in October. She lives there in the winter. Of course my girls know nothing about it. They are to young. They know I am going into the hospital for my hysterctomy. They don't really understand the whole period thing. They seem okay with it. My girls go away to family's alot without me so they should be okay. The hospital is 45 minutes away so we have decided that they will not come visit. They both are really excited about being my personal care giver once I am home. I just do not want them to see me when I first come out. My mom will be staying with them while I am gone. They adore her so that really makes me feel good.

Hubby does not say anything.. He probably won't he is so awesome around the house that I do not have those worries either. He will just do more around the house. I think he is more worried about the thyroid than the hysterctomy as the hyster will affect him to

Anyway we will all be okay. I am really glad that by the time Christmas comes I will be the new me.

Talk to you soon

Age?

Hi Goldie,

You never mentioned your age and marital status. I gather from the infertility mention that you have no children? From everything you have said it sounds like you and I might be in the same boat! The parts never worked very well and now they are giving you a great deal of pain and discomfort. I am definitely leaning (actually practically falling over) toward the hyster for myself.

I got most of my results back today.I am off to a specialist as soon as possible. They found some small nodules on the left side. On the right side they found an alien nodule 6 cm x 3cm x 3cm yikes. I may have to have surgery on my thyroid. Who knows. I am kind of bummed, I will have to let this all sink in !

Bye

To Alipierce and Cath

Hi ali; Nice to meet you!! I'm 44, very happily married for 22 years and unfortunately, no children.
Please tell me more about your story!!
Yes, I feel like these parts never worked for me when I needed them so I don't think I'm going to be all that emotional to see them go!!!
I've already had my tubes removed so even the slightest possibility of conceiving was taken away with them.
I have my moments but for the most part, I know how lucky I am to have the most wonderful husband and family. My heart does still ache from time to time but I'm a very optimistic person and am usually able to talk myself out of feeling too sorry for myself.
So, please tell me about your story!! How old are you and are you married?
I look forward to talking to you!

Cath, I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this thyroid problem now. You certainly don't need this on top of everything else.
I'm sending you a big
Please keep me posted!! Good Luck!!

Just so you know...

there is a higher chance of endo reocurrance (they think) when the ovaries are left behind than if they're taken. Just realize you will have to take hrt (or make other provisions) if you go this route. Good luck goldie01! I hope it all works out for you...here's wishing you pain free days!

My story

Nice to meet you, also goldie! I am 50 and live in Western Mass on the VT and NH border. I will give you a condensed version of my story.

I was married for 25 years to a wonderful man who died in 1997 at 55. No warning, a heart attack while I was at work. We lived in MA, FL, TN, and VA at various times. In 1991 we came back to MA (family reasons) and the enduring of 2 down-sizings.

After Les' death I was almost completely alone. My aging mother lived near by and I have a brother in Canton, OH. A friend suggested I get a computer and look into some of the dating services that were available. About 6 months later I did and met some really incredible men! Ladies they are still out there! In 1999 I married a Widower with 5 grown children. He lost his first to breast cancer 10 years ago. So I finally have children and grand children.

My physical history starts with the diagnosis of pre-cancerous cells on my very first internal exam at 16. What a way to start! I was told then due to my mother taking DES that I should be very diligent about my paps and to never take estrogen as that could "activate" the cancer. Well here I am 34 years later after 6 miscarriages and countless tests and procedures finally contemplating having a hysterectomy. I have an appointment on the 29th to discuss my options. I have had numerous "bad" paps over the years - right now 3 this year and a biopsy 2 weeks ago where again pre-cancerous cells and a vaginal nodule have been found. I am at the point where I have had enough.

Sorry this was so long but believe me I did a lot of condensing!

To Ali

First of all, let me say how sorry I am to hear your story and the loss of your husband. I can't even imagine my life without my husband so my heart goes out to you and the pain you must have endured.
I am so happy to hear that you've found happiness!!!! I have a friend who's 34 and has a 10 year old daughter who lost her husband tragically. He was killed in a car accident when their daughter was only two and she hasn't been able to find anyone and I can hear the sadness in her voice. And its compounded by the fact that her little girl wants a daddy in the worst way. So, I will be sure to tell her of your story and hope it gives her some hope.
You certainly have been thru alot!! When I found out about my likelihood of a hyst, I felt very sorry for myself. The next day, I found out about a neighbor, my age, who has liver and lung cancer. And, no, she's not a smoker! It put things in perspective for me.
It must be very difficult for you to keep getting abnormal pap results. If it was me, I would want everything to be taken out, just for peace of mind! But that's me!
I hope you will keep me posted after your dr's appt! If you need to talk, I'd be happy to help.
This is such a difficult decision but I think the fact that you & I have good marriages certainly helps!
I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!
Looking forward to 'talking" to you again!
