Kinda depressed
Ellie - I am with you on the rollercoaster! I can totally understand how you feel. I have finally made my mind up to have my surgery, but have cancelled it two years in a row due to fear and doubt. Now, it's only a week away, and I am sure it's the right decision. Yes, I'm scared, but at this point, I'll take it. The pain and lack of a decent quality of life isn't worth it any more! Face each day to come one at a time. Don't do what I did and cancel thinking things will be OK. All it has done is prolong the inevitable. This site has given me so much support these past few weeks, I am still scared but I'm sure it's the right thing. Remember, there is strength in number, especially with women! Stay strong, and look forward to feeling better. HUGS!

Kinda depressed
Hi Ellie,
My surgery is scheduled for July 11th. I had put this off for a real long time.
I kept asking myself if it was the right thing to do - and I felt better about my decision to have my surgery after my pre-op with the doctor.
Am I still on the emotional roller coaster - YES! But my roller coaster doesn't cause me to wonder whether or not to still have the operation. (In fact - I just got another period that started on the 16th...and all of the pain, nausea, etc., etc., etc. is confirming my decision!)
Hang in there!

Thanks everyone. It's so great to be able to talk to everyone here. I feel so much better about it today. Beth, yes I am having a TVH and I'm keeping my ovaries. I'm also having a PROLIFT suspension and possibly TVTO (haven't decided if I'm going to let him do that or just wait and see if I need it later). I just want it over with.

Hi sister, I also had a TVH due to prolapse problems.I know how you feel. The pressure from the prolapse was awful and sex was no fun either.Well no more!I feel great!Sex is awsome again and no more pain.I didn't realize how much pressure I was feeling till after my hyster, then I felt as light as a feather.I have no regrets having a hyster was the right choice for me.You will be an emotional rollercoaster till you have your hyster.I know I was a complete basket case.Hang in there sister, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I think the waiting does more to cause havoc than the actual surgery!..I am scheduled in a week, and have been waiting for several weeks for this..if I had to do it all over I would insist on an earlier date, I have made myself nuts at times! hang in there, you will be better!
