can't see inside uterus with U/S???

Hi,
I'm new and have been reading a lot of posts here. I'm so glad I found this site! I'm scheduled for a TAH wed the 28th. My question is...has anyone ever had an u/s that showed nothing? I mean the tech said my uterus was so fibrous that the waves just bounced off. Therefore she couldnt see any fibroids or anything, but the uterus is 3 times as large as it should be. Very painful periods and some clotting. My whole abdomen hurts and then is sore for a week afterward. Any comments.....
Thank you so much
Susan

can't see inside uterus with U/S???

Ultrasound relies on differences in density (sometimes subtle) to detect masses and endometrial thickness. Adenomyosis, particularly, can made the uterus particularly dense and difficult to see; sometimes ultrasounds are done with hysteroscopy, or the uterus may be filled with fluid in an attempt to visualize the lining better.

MRI can also sometimes detect differences in fibrous "soft" tissue, and it might be worth a try! But if what you have is adeno, it can be impossible to diagnose -- until the pathology report is in...

Hope this helps!
