New Here and looking for help!!!

I'm 39 have a 15 month old son that arrived home from Korea last July.

After pushing my doctors into looking into my super heavy periods they found I had fibriods. They tried a hysteroscopy in March to get them puppies out but couldn't get to them and did a D and C to tie me over. That didn't help so they put me on the pill and this month was a mess.

Called the doctor this week and have a meeting with her on Wednesday. I'm getting that **** uterus out if I have to do it myself!!!! Doctors receptionist appreciated that humor.

I'm not worried about the surgery as I have been under the knife before. I'm concerned about the post op. I'm in pretty good shape but I have a little boy that really expects mummy to pick him up lots.....hence my dilema.

How long of a recovery can I expect? How long before I can lug around my little guy? What are some of the challenges of recovery? Sounds like constipation is a big one based on some of the posts.

Thanks in advance for your divine guidance.

finding out more

This is a great site, go to search and type in the main word of your questions. Go to the post op site and find out how the ladies there are faring with young children. From what I can tell, you won't be able to pick up your child, in fact you will probably need help with him for some time after, but maybe others can share their experience with that. He is just a little young to understand that mommy has an 'owie', but he might be able to, depending on his experiences.

I asked my doctor and his nurse all the questions about constipation, pain medication used in the hospital, what I should have on hand for at home, and they answered everything. They are used to questions, and they have the experience about what works best for their patients. Amazingly what they told me was what the ladies on this site have said over and over too.

Just keep reading and keep answering questions, it will help.

Oh and give your son a hug for me. When I first read your post I was sure you had a typo, I thought you had an older son home from the service, but then that didn't make sense either, because 15 year olds don't go into the service. Then I realized you really did mean 15 month old! What a great age, just get some help, or have him at daycare or with friends for awhile. They are busy and have to be watched, they get into everything!
