Bleeding after not bleeding

I had very little spotting and then nothing for days after my hyster and now I'm a little over 2 wks post op and I got up this AM and now I'm bleeding bright red blood and feel kind of crampy? Anyone else out there have this? Yesterday I got dinner, did dishes, wiped of the toilets and sinks and went for a 1/2 mile walk and that's it so I don't see that I overdid anything. Help?

Bleeding after not bleeding

Hi Jerell, Rest, rest and rest some more until this rights itself. In my humble opinion that is an awful lot to do in one day so soon after your hyst. If it was me and the bleeding didn't ease in a day or so I would put in a call to my Dr. Frustrating I know not to be able to do the things we did before the op. for a while, but in the end it will pay dividends to us all in our healing just to resist for a few short weeks! Best wishes for a good recovery.

Bleeding after not bleeding

Jerell

I'm sorry you're now experiencing this.

A hysterectomy is major surgery, with the intial and vital healing taking approximately 6 weeks ~ full recovery can then take anywhere from 3 months to a year. As ((twiglet)) says, at 2 weeks post-op all that activity is over-doing things ~ I was told to do nothing more strenuous than lift a mug of tea for the first 6 weeks.

Have you found our <link> Post-Op Page yet? It's packed with information for your recovery, including an article Doing Too Much, Too Soon, and the Post-Op Checkpoints.

I also think you should call your doctor and explain what's happened, even if the bleeding has improved. It's always best to err on the side of caution.

Please try to rest as much as possible from now on as you've only this one chance to heal properly. I'm sending all good wishes as you continue to heal!
