Re: 8 days daVinci post op... Need advice
i had the davinci on march 30 and took pain meds for 3 weeks... i'm 5.5 weeks out now and just took a vicodin because i've overdone it the past 24 hours... i just went back to work last night for a few hours and was so sore and exhausted afterwards... i've heard the 2 weeks better & back to work stories, but i don't think its that way for most women who had davinci's... no matter how the surgery was done, its still major surgery inside...

Re: 8 days daVinci post op... Need advice
Hey there. Girl, you are not alone. I had my hysterectomy on January 7th. I have had the cramping, pinching, pulling pain for four months now and no one can find out what's causing it. I am so miserable and frustrated. I hurt daily. They seem to think it is adhesions but the dr does not want to operate because they will prob grow back so I feel like I am ruined for life. I think about my hys everyday all day because the pain is constantly with me. I hope you are better. If you have found an answer, let me know please.

Re: 8 days daVinci post op... Need advice
Hi, well, I had abdominal surgery 10 days ago and I have been a mess!!! I will say to you that 1st of all get a perscription for naproxen from your doc. it isn't okay to be in pain and 2nd of all you are probably doing too much!!! LISTEN to your body!! drink alot of water, rest and be nice to your self!! You had surgery and YOUR body will take as long as YOUR body needs to heal. You are unique and although your friend did fine after a week you may need a month or more. Please call your doc. and be good to your self.

Re: 8 days daVinci post op... Need advice
Hi all!
You are right. Last night I was in pain and didn't take anything for it.... Just laid in bed and whined. My husband called me a baby and he doesn't understand. He thinks I should be able to do everything already. I am having a hard time because he thinks his time off from work is time to get all his yard work done and he hasn't helped me very much. I asked him if he would go grocery shopping today and he got mad. He is not doing the things he is supposed to so I have no choice but to do them. What should I do?

You have to stay in front of the pain. If you don't your body will be trying to deal with the pain instead of putting it's time into healing. If the Dr. won't give you any additional medication find whatever Over the Counter medication will help you.
As for the your husband - maybe this article will help My husband doesn't understand hysterectomy needs
I had a friend go grocery shopping with me, she did the bending and lifting and pushed the heavy cart. When I went I was able to walk slowly, others have ridden in the motorized carts. You could also order in dinner if you have restaurants that deliver in your area, it might help drive home the point that you still need some assistance.

Hope you are feeling better. It can be really hard when people don't understand what you need. I have learned from experience that if you try to do something you shouldn't,you will pay. If he doesn't get the clue from the article, sit him down and tell him you can not do these things. He needs to be helping you and not expecting you to do it all. Sending lots of best wishes and lots of hugs. Take care of yourself.

It's more now that he just ignores the housework and everything just sits..... I tried talking to him.... Maybe I just need to come to terms with the fact that he will not clean and do things to my expectations.

Re: 8 days daVinci post op... Need advice
I am just over 3 weeks post op- I started driving 1 week ago- and doing about 6-8 flights of stairs a day- plus bending, etc- and I was in agony Wed-Sat. Lower abdomin achy- back achy- pressure when need to use bathroom for any reason. Sunday I kept it to 1 short drive- awalk around 1/2 of Target- and 4 flights of stairs- and I felt GREAT. Just a little achy at night. I had to push it today (husband is back to work in another State- 3000 miles away)- and I have 3 young kids- and let me tell you- I am sore.
I think I am beating myself up b/c my Dr. told me the 'two week' story.
I had a post-op infection that I am sure slowed me down a little- but I thought I'd feel better by now. I had NO pain (zero on a 1-10 scale) after the surgery (with drugs)-so bummed to hurt now!
BUT- days like yesterday tell me I AM getting better- and will soon be OK-
I am so sorry for those of you who don't have supportive husbands and families- I had a big cancer scare with mine- and so many people stepped up to help= and my husband was truly amazing (but truth be told- he's probably a better housecleaner and cook than I am, anyway!) LOL!
Hope everyone feels better REALLY soon! and I think we all need to remember- when it hurts- we've done too much!
