No natural lubrication

I don't have a problem with desire or sensation but my body no longer produces any lubrication. I wonder if Astroglide gets old because I've been burning and itchy almost immediately after using it. The bottle is over a year old.

Hi Speckla I don't think Astroglide goes bad, at least not after only a year. I would guess that the issue is that you have a vaginal dryness problem and aren't using anything to take care of it.

Astroglide and other lubricants don't do anything to restore moisture to the vagina and keep it elastic and healthy. For that, you need estrogen. There are many vaginal estrogen options, including Premarin and Estrace creams, compounded creams, a tablet that's inserted vaginally (Vagifem) and a low-dose estradiol ring called Estring. My personal favorite is Vagifem.

Unless you take care of the underlying dryness issue, lubricants such as Astroglide may burn and sting because they're hitting the irritated tissues in there.

It was Astroglide Warming and I think it was the warming agent. I switched to plain KY and don't have the burning or itching.
The burning and itching started with penetration and it only happened during intercourse.

Ahh, yes... those warming agents do irritate some women. Glad you are fine with the regular KY.

i am 8 yrs into my hysterectomy today. sex is impossible at best. i have tried the over the counter lubricants, hormone tablest and crams inserted vaginally, and still have pain during intercourse. even switching helps once maybe,, but not usually.i am also having probs finding a hormone to help me. i have severe night sweats, hot flashes and no lubrication, and it is taking its toll on my confidence and relationship.i am now 53 and it is an embarrassing and painful problem. any suggesstions?
