Well, I think I might have done too much today, but I do feel better emotionally
anyway. I just CAN"T sit. I can't. So, between naps and lounging, I did a few things very slowly and, while I feel like I overdid it a bit, I also feel better emotionally. If you read my post last night, it was pretty much settled that I wasn't going to get a lot of help and pretty much was on my own. So, instead of whining (except for one breakdown), I was thankful for what help I did get and just slowly did things myself if needed.
DH did make me dinner, take the boys for haircuts and for breakfast and brought me an orange. LOL
DD did get a Christmas tree for me (although not really what I wanted, but who cares) and put lights on it.
DS (16) put up the outside lights.
So I feel pretty good.
I did a couple of loads of laundry, loaded the dishwasher and put a couple of Christmas decorations up. I also swept a bit of the kitchen until my DH caught me and grabbed the dust pan and scooped it up. I helped the little ones fold their clothes and put them away and was able to climb the stairs and tuck them in.
I feel sore and amazed at how tired I get so easily. But, my sciatica feels a bit better when I move. I also had the dreaded first BM and while not pleasant, wasn't as horrible as I thought.
Only took 1 Tylenol 3 today and the rest advil so I think I'm doing allright 4 days out. My sister comes tomorrow night to help for a few days and she is great. She will truly help and I can't wait to visit with her. Just thought I'd post that I wasn't in the depths of despair tonight as I was last night.

Just don't be too concerned if your body gets your attention for a few days. It is impossible for some of us to rest (me included). I found myself in similar situations and the first few times I tried to do too much, it took a few days to recover. Good luck and I hope I'm wrong. I am glad that you're feeling better mentally. It's amazing what a little independance can do for a person. :-)

Thanks for the response. I did pay for it last night with a bad stomachache and feel really sore today. But, still I feel better; like I will get through this.

Tricializ, my doctor make a special effort to tell me not to do any laundry. Pulling the clothes from the washer can injure you inside right after surgery. Please take it really easy and dont do any pulling or lifting if you want to heal up right with no set backs. Pamper yourself! You are the Princess right now! Nice that you have family to help you. Best of luck to you!

Thanks, Moonflower. Trust me when I say that their help is minimal at best. It is driving me literally mad. Now I just found out that DD took my shoes back to school with her. Those are my favorite shoes!!!! They must be cute! LOL She figured since I can't drive, I can't go anywhere, so I don't need them. WTH? Oh well. Kids. Ugh. I have been good today though and only folded one load of laundry and have spent the rest of the day on the couch.

I did WAY too much yesterday, and today I am paying for it. I just had to get out of the house and see the world. We went Christmas shopping, and ended up out for 4 hours (got a wheelchair at the mall for the last 2 hours). I have not even been out at all in my 2 weeks post-op except for 2 quick outings. But you know what?? Although I was in more pain today and last night, my spirits have lifted. It was so great being out in the world, hearing christmas music, seeing new faces, etc. How refreshing. I'll probably have to take it easy for a couple days, but worth it in the end!
