Surgery in the morning!

Well, it's finally here for me! I'm not worried or scared, I am actually excited. I keep hearing about how much better I am going to feel...I can't wait to get back to my 'old' self. I miss all the things I had been doing with my life before this mess started.

My pre op was today and that was interesting. I was a little nervous when my doctor asked ME what he was going to be doing in the morning! So I said that I hoped he would be removing my uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes LOL! He laughed and said he asked everyone that because sometimes his patients would say they didn't know. I went to the hospital for my pre op tests. I finally get to find out what my blood type is. The EKG was fast! All the tests they did went really quickly. I made sure they all were very aware of my ibuprofen/anaprox allergy. I don't want any problems!

I have to be there at six AM so that means leaving my house at five AM! So goodnight and good luck to everyone else!

Re: Surgery in the morning!

Terrain73 - At my pre-op at the hospital, I also had to verbally tell them what they would be doing. The nurse said that even though we had been discussing it, she needed me to say the words. I thought it was strange, but maybe some ladies don't know.

Again, good luck - it is finally here. We will be waiting for you on the other side.

Re: Surgery in the morning!

LOL, I was a little flabbergasted...I didn't quite know at first how to answer!

Another deal is the wash they gave me. The nurse said to lather up and leave it on for FIVE minutes! I am going to have to read a book in the shower or something because I don't know what I am going to do for that long.

Thanks again for the good wishes!

Re: Surgery in the morning!

Be sure to tell the nurses of your allergy, as well as the anesthesiologist. Heck, I make sure the janitor and the dietary staff know I am allergic to codeine and pecans.they put a red bracelet on the arm with the IV that was printed with my allergies when I had my knee surgery. That way everyone checked before they gave me anything.

Best wishes and prayers for an uneventful surgery and a quick recovery!
