3 months post hysterectomy: Can my ovaries be failing?

Hello Ladies,
I'm a bit confused by my menopausal symptoms. I had my surgery on March 12th, kept my ovaries and cervix. I suffer with thyroid issues and really didn't want to face instant menopause with the need for HRT on top of the balancing act of my thyroid meds.

I do realise there was always a risk that I'd hit menopause earlier or indeed, much sooner, but after only 3 months? Can they fail that quickly? The symptoms I'm experiencing include bursting into tears at the slightest thing, feeling suddenly really hot and forgetting things, really important things. DH thinks I'm just over emotional and I'm freaking out the kids, has anyone else kept their ovaries only to have them fail so quickly? Or do I just need a holiday?

Re: Can my ovaries be failing?

I dont know if my ovaries ever kicked in after surgery...I was already having pre menopausal symptoms prior to surgery. I'm 49 so its possible that its hitting. I get night sweats occasionally, hot flashes, and grouchy or emotional at times. I dont know when my mom would have hit menopause because she had a hysterectomy at 29 or 30 because of a tipped uterus and her ovaries were removed.
