Thanks,

Re: Anyone else have terrible gas pains?

Sorry you're still feeling these gas pains.

I kept a low carbohydrate diet the first couple of days, mostly keeping things liquid and especially staying away from grains those first few days. Carbs build gas as they break down & I was up and moving frequently for short periods as the walking will also help. Most of my gas pains were gone by day 4...of course I don't know if this did the trick, but it seemed to have worked for me.

Warning the next part might be TMI, but it worked for me. When I felt my body was ready to "let go" of the gas, I did use the short stool in the bathroom that many have written about. I put my feet up on it & took my time and the "relief" came. No BM, that took even longer (but used the stool again). I forget exactly why people say having this stool works...but it did.

Maybe some of this can help Good luck!

8 days post hysterectomy: Anyone else have terrible gas pains?

I am 9 days post op and I had trapped gas up until my first BM. What follows is worse than the trapped gas to me. That gas has to come out and when it does, it is horribly loud and smelly. I find that it gets worst before another BM. I plan on talking to my Dr about it. This is just my experiences so far though. Gas X does nothing. The only time I get relief is right after a BM. Good luck to you. I know how you feel. No one tells us about this stuff before the surgery but I have to hope, it is still one of the best things we could have done for ourselves.

I had terrible gas pains as well. Anti has meds help but also have your husband or friends gently rub from the top of your neck down your back ....in a stoking motion not like a back rub(that would be nice too) but as if they are moving air bubbles down....like you would a baby when they have gas pains... When they do the surgery has often gets trapped in your abdomen and causes pains...once u relieve the gas u will feel much better ....I used to have to sit on the toilet to let the gas out and keep from being "rude" around my family ...I hope this helps

Squatty Potty! This helped me so much. I did the same thing you did and mine went away in about four days. Movement was the key for me. Peppermint tea helped settle my stomach.

Re: 8 days post hysterectomy: Anyone else have terrible gas pains?

Thank you ladies for all your advice and hope your doing well! My daughter has been sick with a high fever, so it's been crazy around here and I still have those **** gas pains this morning. I do find a heating pad will help and walking around. It's terrible that no one told us how really, really bad these gas pains can get. Gosh, sometimes they are worse than my cramps were!

Health & Happiness to us all

Hey,
When I was discharged from the hospital, I was advised to drink hot liquids. So far, it has mostly helped.
Lots of tea!

Thanks, making a cup of hot tea now! Hope you feel better soon, too! I noticed if a sneeze, I feel like my stitches are going to explode!

8 days post hysterectomy: Anyone else have terrible gas pains?

I'm a week post-op and have had bad gas pains/cramps. I have been having more normal BM's, which is great, but the gas pains that I have, especially in the morning, are enough to kill me (and my poor little boys who don't know what to do when I have the look of pain on my face). I've been walking a lot around the house and have been doing much. I have been taking colace, Culturelle, etc to help with the BM and it has worked like magic! Hugs!!

I hear you, these gas pains are killers!!! My kids look at me too in shock. One minute I'm fine and the next I'm bent over in pain!

Hope we all feel better soon!
