more sore this evening

hi ladies!! i had my TAH on sept 1. tonight i am a little more sore. i have spent most of the day either in the rocking chair or at the computer. i took a walk around the yard once and have walked around the house. lying down is uncomfortable for me normally because of my fibromyalgia. i have reduced the amount of pain killers i am taking. i am wondering if i should be lying down more? i don't think i could stand to. maybe i should go back to taking more pain killers? maybe it is normal for my inscision and tummy to feel a little more sore at 5 days post op? any thoughts here?

Hi

Wow! You are *so* early into your recovery! I was still in hospital at the 5 day mark! For now, you should be taking the prescribed dose of painkillers, as you are now more sore. As the soreness reduces, then reduce the painkillers.

Rest, rest, rest, is the key to a good recovery ... in whatever way you feel comfortable. I couldn't stand to lie down until I had to, at night. It will still be normal to have a sore tummy and incision at 5 weeks, let alone 5 days! Obviously, the symptoms will be alot less at 5 weeks.

It takes months to recovery from a TAH. Patience will pay dividends! Remember, the body takes a huge bashing with major surgery.

Take care of yourself.

You must be doing great! I tried to sit at my computer about a week after mine and received extreme burning. I would think you still need the pain medication. I lived in my recliner for almost a month until I felt comfortable going to my bed. At first, the abs are really tight when you stretch out. Good luck getting better!
