hysterectomy scheduled july 7

Im 31 and had my hysterectomy scheduled for july 7 today.. Im happy and very nervous at the same time.. Any advice on what to expect????

Just read posts here. I read a few times a day. It has helped so much in getting me mentally ready. I don't have a date yet but I will very shortly.

i am schedued for july 7 also, have been researching on net for weeks everything from alternatives to hrt..am at the point where just want to get it over with so i can quit fretting

I had my DaVinci hyster on June 4th, so today is week 3 post op for me. They only took my uterus & cervix - I kept my ovaries & tubes. I guess I was lucky in that my hyster was somewhat an emergency surgery & I didn't have a lot of time to think about or worry about it. The week before Memorial day, I started bleeding extremely heavily & ended up in the hospital for 3 days & got 5 units of blood. They gave me Megase to stop the bleeding, so I could wait to get the DVH rather than need the TAH right then. Considering how weak & acRes I was from the blood loss, I was happy to do whatever I had to to keep that from happening again. I had already had a failed ablation & removal of a fibroid in Feb, 2010, so didn't really have any other option
even though I didn't get too worried before-hand, I was somewhat concerned about the pain I would be in after surgery. Fortunately, I have only had minimal pain, and have had no complications. The one thing I can recommend is toisten to your Dr. & this website when they say to take it easy & rest afterward. Don't push yourself to try to get back to normal too soon. It can cause more damage than it is worth.
