Starting to get nervous

I go to the hospital in the morning and am having the jitters. I couldn't sleep last night and am a bundle of nerves. Can't stop thinking of the what ifs. I know that everything will be okay but still can't get it out of my mind. I just want to wake up and face what I have before me. I already take an antidepressant for anxiety and panic attacks but until last night they worked great but now I feel like I need a sedative. I've got everything ready for my stay in the hospital, maybe I should invent something else to do. Sorry about the rambling....thanks for listening. I guess I will talk to you ladies after I get back home.

Starting to get nervous

It is completely normal to be nervous about going to the castle tomorrow and the what ifs....

I felt the same way you did the day before my TAH/BSO back in January. But, it was over before I knew it and I was on the road to recovery both physically and emotionally.

You are going to do great and it will be over before you know it. Just let your anxiety meds work and try to relax as much as you can. Now is the time to pamper yourself and just think about how much better you are going to feel.

My prayers are with you and I will keep a watch out for when you return the hyster sisterhood.

Starting to get nervous

I too was very nervous. Think of things you can do to relax a little. Like maybe a bubble bath - you won't get one for a while- or reading (not medical!) or the mall or make a nice dinner. I did a great job on the housework since that gave me something else to think about. But frankly I did not want to talk to anyone and my family knew this. I wore my "Sea-Bands" to bed and kept them on until I went to the operating room. If you don't know them, they are worn on the wrist as accupressure to combat nausea. Keep in mind that everyone on this site made it through and so will you. I will send good thoughts your way tomorrow.

Pre-Op Nerves

Hi Lillyofthevalley,

You are 100% normal for feeling the way you do. I have to wait until 9/4 for my surgery. The wait is killing me. Trust me when I say that you are going to be fine. Women are tough. We can handle almost anything put in front of us. Keep a positive attitude. When you feel the most stressed just close your eyes, breathe in, filling up your lungs and abdomen. Picture a beautiful warm golden light shining on you from above. Try to actually feel the light surround you. Consider this to be your healing light. Imagine this light to be yours alone. Your light will relax you and help to heal your body and mind. This is a form of meditation that I think will help you. Just remember to try and keep a positive attitude. Being positive will help you in so many ways. Also remember that you have all of your Hystersisters sending their positive thoughts towards you.
