Why the need for Gas-X?
I've read several posts suggesting to buy GasX for your castle stay. Why do we need the GasX? Don't we want to "poot"?

Why the need for Gas-X?
I used tea and peppermint tea to help out with the gas pains...the gas x helps with the discomfort from the gas pains you will get. I hope this helps you. Take care

Why the need for Gas-X?
Ha ha, wait until after your surgery and you'll see! Seriously, though, gas that moves through your system that you would normally not even feel is really painful after surgery. I'm 3 weeks post-op and still having severe gas pains. I think it's because of all the swelling inside. I haven't used Gas X much except for the first few days I had gas pains. They're not continuous, but they do come and go, and boy do they hurt! I was like you before surgery thinking that all the talk about gas pains wouldn't apply to me, but how wrong I was. By the way, you'll want the Gas X more for when you get home than when you're in the hospital, I think.
The other item I couldn't believe I would need as much as I did was lip balm. I have NO idea what in the world went on with my mouth during surgery, but I had the worst chapped lips for a couple days afterward. My medicated lip balm was my best friend.
Good luck to you!

Why the need for Gas-X?

Yes, you *want to* pass gas - but it's often easier said than done. The GI tract becomes sluggish from surgery, and immobility and narcotics compound the problem. Since the normal wave-like motion of the intestine (called peristalsis) is slowed down, gas tends to accumulate rather than being moved along and passed. The gas medicines help the bloating and passage.
The lack of privacy in the hospital doesn't help things either...but it's no time to be shy. I was told we can lessen the amount of swallowed air by avoiding carbonated beverages, drinking straws, and chewing gum. Staying well-hydrated helps too, but the biggest advice out there to help with gas pain is to
Best wishes & s

Also, if you're having laprascopic surgery, they use carbon dioxide to inflate the abdomen, and sometimes not all of it escapes when they complete the job.
GasX helped with that gas pain too, or at least it made me feel like I was doing something about it.

Why the need for Gas-X?
Hi- I am still going thru this. Gas pains aren't what you think. You can get stabbing pains under your ribs, in your back, by your choulders---its like bad heartburn all over your torso! When I told the nurses that I was experiencing this, they said it was "gas"...I said; "Gas in my shoulders?"!!! Yep- and I didn't even have the Co2 pumped into me cause I was cut open. Its just natural gas!
So, surgery gas pain isn't the same as "gotta rip one" gas pain.LOL

Why the need for Gas-X?
I felt like I had popcorn in my abdomen at times. The hospital gave me Gas-X - I think it's a MUST!

Why the need for Gas-X?
I didn't take anything for gas. I started walking the day after my surgery and it really helped. Just shifting positions helped too, when I didn't feel like walking. My dr did tell me that I could take GasX or something like that if I needed to.
