Upcoming hysterectomy: When did you receive your Rx for pain meds?

I got a prescription at the time of discharge and my daughter picked it up for me. Get it filled whether you think you need it or not. Most patients will need the pain medication for at least a couple of days.

I asked to pick them up a few days prior to surgery, so that I had them readily available. Plus, there was a delay, due to an out of stock item.I was able to get everything with 4 days to spare, which worked out perfectly.

Got mine at the pre-op appt. 1 week ahead.

I was on the morphine pump at the hospital they took me off that the morning after surgery and then at discharge they gave me my script for hydrocodone and my hrt.

My Dr didn't want to give me a prescription before because he didn't know what I would tolerate until after. That being said the pharmacy was slow and I was in a lot of pain by the time I got something.
