Recovery Report for Hysterectomy on May 31, 2012
Hi,
My name is Emily and I had my Hysterectomy on 5/31. My recovery has been OK despite that my belly is kind of pop out. Is this normal? I have 17 staples on my belly (vertical to the ground). It seems one side is popping up higher than the other side. Is there something I should worry about?
Thanks.
-Emily

Hi Emily,
Welcom to HysterSisters. If you are worried about your staples I would recommend you give your doctor a call. He may want to examine you to be sure all is well. You mentioned your belly popping out and that is likely what we call "swelly belly" around here. It is very normal for you to have swelly belly post hysterectomy from swollen tissue and gas build up. Be sure to follow your post op instructions from your doctor.
Here is the link to your hysterectomy date thread so you can get recovery support from other ladies who had surgeries around the time you had yours. https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...d.php?t=483135
Also, at the top of the page is the hysterectomy check points. You will find a lot of information about your recovery and hints/tips to help you in your recovery. https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/view_postop.htm

Thanks, Molly.
I had my surgery unexpected - I didn't have time to do any research. After posting that message, I browsed around in the group and found that swelly belly is normal and felt relief.
Thanks again.
